Varvand Gram Shikshan Sanstha, Varvand was established on 1st August 1963 by Late Shri Eknath Sitaram Divekar and Shri Keshavrao Shitole, with the strong support of local villagers. The institution was founded with the vision to provide access to quality education for the rural and economically weaker sections of society.

At a time when secondary and higher education facilities were distant and inaccessible for village students, the Sanstha took a major step by establishing its first high school, Gopinath Vidyalaya, in 1963. Responding to the growing educational needs of the community, a Higher Secondary School was introduced in 1989-90.

Over the years, the Sanstha has expanded steadily and has become a cornerstone of education in the region. A milestone was achieved in 1993 with the commencement of the Arts College, followed by the introduction of the Science faculty in 1994 and the Commerce faculty in 2002-03. Recognizing the importance of advanced studies, Postgraduate courses in Marathi, English, History, Chemistry, and Commerce were launched.

With the evolving demands of the modern world, a Bachelor of Computer Science course was initiated in 2012, and new career-oriented programs such as BBA (CA) and BBA were introduced in 2018.

Fulfilling the long-standing request of students and parents, the Pharmacy Department was established in 2019 with the launch of the Diploma in Pharmacy, followed by the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) in 2021.

Today, the institution proudly serves over 1800 students, offering a diverse range of academic programs across disciplines. The Sanstha continues to reach new milestones, upholding its founding mission of empowering rural youth through holistic and inclusive education.
